=Poems For Mrs. Sweeney's Enriched English 10 Class
CHILDHOOD POEM
The Sun
The sun is like a blanket,
Warming a child in the summer.
The sun flies across the sky,
Turning day into night.
The sun is a giver of life,
To everything in the world.
The sun is a mother,
Helping little children grow.

Not-Love Sonnet
I am writing a poem for Sweeney
I do not know what it is about but
It includes Benito Mussolini.
I am now stuck in a poetry rut
I cannot believe I am a poet
I surprised myself in my English class
I cannot believe I did not know it
I rewarded myself with a large bass
In time, anyone can write a poem
It really actually is not hard
Writing a poem is really ho-hum
I am writing a poem in my yard.
This sonnet I’m writing comes to a close
I will write a poem when it next snows

Response to the poem Woman

She wanted me to be her dandelion
And her tree to hold the robin’s nest
Instead I’m like a playful squirrel
Flying through the forest
Like a mighty oak tree
My ideals will not be swayed
She tried to changes me
To suit her needs
Though I am not her little bird
I still want to fly free

Original Poem 2
As I sit here writing this rhyme
I start to wonder if I’m wasting my time
I could walk around outside
Or read some of The Far Side
Instead I’m stuck here in front of my computer
Wondering whether or not to get a poetry tutor
I am sure that I will get a good grade
Or my name is not Wade
I am writing this poem on Sunday night
My future in poems is not looking too bright

Nature Poem

Falling snow is like shimmering shards of glass
Flittering, fluttering, falling, towards the earth
Snow is a soft cushion
Blanketing the Earth
Snow blocks the roads to school
And brings with it opportunities
Snowboarding, sledding, skiing, and sleigh riding
All are fun things to do only in the snow
Hot chocolate and marshmallows
Warm everyone after a day in the snow
Then we pile our sopping wet snow gear by the fire
To dry for another day

Study hall is like a fruit salad

Even reading a book is sometimes fun
Homework is rarely ever done
And goofing off with friends is number one
But a book is acceptable at all times in study hall
